WASHINGTON — In a 6-3 ruling in State Department v. MuƱoz, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against a U.S. citizen who said her constitutional rights were violated by the federal government when it denied a visa to her Salvadoran husband.

The Ķųŗģ±¬ĮĻ filed an amicus brief in this case, and Daniel Galindo, senior staff attorney with the Ķųŗģ±¬ĮĻ's Immigrants’ Rights Project, had the following reaction:

ā€œThe Supreme Court says a U.S. citizen has no protected interest in living with her noncitizen spouse in her own country. We strongly disagree. At a minimum, she should be entitled to a fair process.ā€

Ruling:

This case is part of the Ķųŗģ±¬ĮĻ’s Joan and Irwin Jacobs Supreme Court Docket.
