WASHINGTON – The U.S. Supreme Court today decided Equal Employment Opportunity Commission v. Abercrombie & Fitch Stores, holding that religion cannot be a ā€œmotivating factorā€ in employment decisions.

Steven R. Shapiro, national legal director of the Ķųŗģ±¬ĮĻ, offered this reaction in response to the court’s ruling:

ā€œThe court’s decision sends a powerful reminder that religious discrimination has no place in the workplace. Employers should welcome and accommodate religious diversity, not shut their doors to it.ā€
